2012 RAILROAD DAYS FESTIVAL PARADE ENTRY FORM
Hosted by the West Nassau Historical Society,
A nonprofit group dedicated to preserving Nassau County’s history.

The 2012 Railroad Festival parade will be held on Saturday, MARCH 24TH, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
Line up begins at 10 AM on Dixie Ave. at the Depot. All entrants must be in line by 10:30 AM. The parade is scheduled to start at 11:00 A. M. sharp.  Parade route proceeds south along US 1, then turns west on 5th Avenue.  RETURN ROUTE IS BOOTH ST. All are required to complete full parade route.
A copy of the route together with your entry number will be emailed a week of the parade. 

Our themes for this year’s parade are twofold 1) Trains and Railroads or 2) Our County’s History.  Awards will be given to the floats that best reflect these two themes. Winners will be announced and plaques handed out during Saturday afternoon’s ceremony at the historic Callahan Depot.

Horses: Anyone entering horses in the parade will have to provide a clean-up detail to follow behind the horses. SAFETY FIRST! Candy or other objects:The Sponsor discourages throwing candy or any other items. Whether thrown from floats or by walkers, it can hurt participants or spectators.  Any such action taken by a parade participant is at the sole risk and responsibility of the participating organization and its members.

ENTRY FEE: $40.00 Please return the application with your check or money order to the address below. Please to not send cash. Confirmation will be emailed to the email address listed on the app. The Historical Society is a tax exempt, non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible in accordance to the IRS codes. The entry fee is non-refundable.

RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION: There is some inherent danger in participating in this event.  West Nassau Historical Society cannot control the actions of all of the participants and spectators to the event. Each participating organization, together with its officers, directors, members, and guest, as a condition of participation by the organization, agree to assume all risks, and on behalf of itself and its officers, directors, and guests, hereby releases the sponsor from all claims and further, for itself and its officers, directors, members and guests, agrees to indemnify, insure, protect, defend and save harmless the West Nassau Historical Society and all of its officers and directors and members, from any loss, injury, illness, or damage, and on any action, claim, cost, demand, expense, judgment, lawsuit, or litigation, whether in law or equity, which may result from the entry or participation in the parade, or the actions of any participant or spectator.

THE WEST NASSAU HISTORICAL SOCIETY REGARDS SAFETY AS THE PARAMOUNT ISSUE AT ALL TIMES DURING THE PARADE.  WE ASK ALL PARADE PARTICIPANTS NOT TO THROW ANY TYPE OF OBJECTS, INCLUDING CANDY AND BEADS, FROM THEIR CARS OR FLOATS DURING THE PARADE.  PLEASE HELP US PUT ON A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE PARADE FOR ALL BY ABIDING BY THIS RULE.

IN THE EVENT OF EXREMELY INCLIMATE WEATHER OR DIASTER OR EVENT WHERE THE SAFETY OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS OF THE PARADE MAY BE AN ISSUE, THE WEST NASSAU HISTORICAL SOCIETY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THE PARADE AT ANY TIME.

I understand the West Nassau Historical Society or its representatives are not responsible for any loss or damages or personal injury which may be incurred at any time during these proceedings.
